The Kings Court Trust announced in their second annual report in 2018 that under half (45%) of the adult population in Great Britain have a Will. While this represents an increase of 6% compared to 2017 when the proportion was 39%, it still means that over half the adult population don’t have Wills.
Around six in ten parents don’t have Wills in place, or have ones that are out of date.
Having a Will can save on tax, on care home fees and on a great deal of heartache. Why leave arrangements for your assets to chance? More importantly, why leave arrangements for your infant children to chance?
You may be young and fit, but sadly none of us can guarantee dying old and full of years. Accidents and tragedies do occur and, whilst we hope it won’t happen to us, we cannot be sure it won’t. It’s not about being morbid; it’s more about being mindful. It’s not about pessimism; it more about prudence.
Of course, we hope the worst does not happen. But if against the odds it were to, forward planning will save adding further distress in an already distressing situation.
Why not pick up the phone or send an email to start the conversation? You will be surprised at how simple and quick and cost-effective putting a will in place can be.
