For a start, we are not VAT registered, so there is no additional 20% on our fees.<\/p>\n<p>Estimates vary but between 60-70% of adults in England and Wales do not have Wills. Over 60% of adults with young children have not made Wills, even though they have most reason to make Wills!<\/p>\n<p>Many who don\u2019t have a Will have good intentions about making a Will but have never quite got round to it for one reason or another\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need the money for a holiday\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019m too busy right now\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cWe\u2019re not sure what we want\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But without a Will, your loved ones suffer your loss, then suffer the stress and distress of sorting out your affairs with no instructions from you.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">With a Will, there\u2019s a way\u2026<\/h2>\n<p><strong>To reduce the suffering of your loved ones<\/strong><br \/>\nAdministering an Estate with a Will is cheaper, easier and quicker. It minimises the risk of tension or misunderstanding within the family. This should be a time for pulling together, not pulling apart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To reduce the amount payable to the Government<\/strong><br \/>\nDon\u2019t pay more Inheritance tax at 40% than you have to! With a correctly drafted Will, you can reduce the amount of tax your estate pays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To reduce the amount payable to a Care Home<\/strong><br \/>\nYou can safeguard more of your estate against being used to pay for long term care, should your spouse need that care after you have died.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To fulfil your wishes<\/strong><br \/>\nWithout a Will:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If your spouse remarried and had a new family, you could not prevent him\/her leaving part or all of your estate to his\/her new family \u2013 with your children potentially missing out.<\/li>\n<li>Your unmarried partner would get nothing.<\/li>\n<li>Your children might be cared for by relatives you would not have chosen.<\/li>\n<li>Your friends would miss out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I\u2019ve already got a Will<\/h2>\n<p>Good, but is it up to date?<br \/>\nYou should amend your Will if, since you made your last Will, there has been a major \u2018life event\u2019 such as:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You have had children.<\/li>\n<li>You have come into or out of a long term relationship.<\/li>\n<li>You have lost a loved one.<\/li>\n<li>One of your executors or beneficiaries has died.<\/li>\n<li>Your assets have increased, eg you bought a house, your property has risen significantly in value or you have received an inheritance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Even if none of the above apply, does your Will still fully reflect your wishes?<\/p>\n<p>We recommend that you review your will when a major life event occurs (as above) or in any event every three years or so. That doesn\u2019t mean you should change it.
